I think I see the problem...

Kansas City (both sides of state line) spends a lot of time and money trying to fix the problem of subpar drainage in certain parts of town.

I'm just guessing, but I'd imagine almost all of this sand will end up clogging storm drains with either the first heavy rain or a pass of a street sweeper.

I held my camera down by my water bottle. So it really wasn't any harder than grabbing my water bottle. I will be honest, though: It was very crooked. I rotated it to be somewhat level and cropped it, which is why it seems like it's so far forward, closer to my front axle.

I also just noticed that the photo in this post was from KCK, and the flooding example I linked to was in KCMO. Both use too much sand, and both have drainage problems on Southwest Boulevard.
