Kansas City bicycle mania in the news

The latest edition of INK Magazine is devoted to bicycling in Kansas City. There are two different covers, one of a pro-level womens crit racer and the other of a local urban utility cyclist. Other articles include vintage bikes, tallbikes, and other miscellaneous "bike culture" stuff, mostly of the art-inspired and fixed gear variety. Apparently, most of the articles from INK are online so out-of-towners can read, too. Fair warning: INK may be a little racy, potentially not safe for work.

Also, you may remember more than a month ago when the chaps from BBC's One Planet were in town... Well, the podcast is live for the listening, as pointed out by metalcommuter in my comments from a recent post.

You've found the MONKEY ELECTRIC ALLEYCAT CHECKPOINT. Sign in here by leaving a comment, then visit the next checkpoint in Sacramento, California.

And FYI to my readers - I've agreed to play a part in Fritz's Monkeylectric giveaway game. This is only one little part, so check his site out if you want to play. It's not live yet, but I'm guessing it won't be too long...

I heard you on the BBC broadcast today and then spotted your URL on the commute by bike website.

We're British, but moved here to the Netherlands to live in this wonderful cycling culture. There's a very different way of doing things here. Cycling is normal and everyone does it: there's an average of 1.2 cycle journeys per person per day in this city.

It sounds like Kansas could do with a bit of help. Suggest that your planners come and look here !

The blog has more details.

You haven't lived until you've watched bike jousting on tall bikes. And none of this jousting on the grass in a park stuff; it's gotta happen on the street or in a paved parking lot.
