A quick, informal poll: Where do you park it?

Where do you leave your bike while you're at work?

In your office/cubicle?
In a storage closet or indoor stairwell?
In the locker room?
Covered bicycle-specific parking (cage, bike rack, etc)?
Outdoor bicycle-specific parking?
Chained to whatever stationary object you can find?

Let me know. I have been talking to management and HR about the feasibility of parking indoors once I get my new bike.

My office has a cheap but covered bike rack, away from the street. The rack itself is pretty old, typical of about the mid 70s... like this one. I can look out my window and see my bike if I need to. It's also away from the street, which is nice - by the back entrance to our building. I personally like this kind of rack because it offers more options as to how to actually do the locking of your bike.

I'd prefer to park my bike indoors but right now that's not an option.

I really wish we could edit these things.
Anyhow, I have some room in the warehouse section of our building. Not much goes on there. Kind of just a junk storage device. I brought a desk, chair and lounge chair back there when I want to read in private or take a nap. Only me and the janitor know about it.

My office happens to be a converted school room on the third floor in the main administration building. I just bring my bike up the elevator and then park it next to my desk. I have facilities for recharging lights, and airing out gear. The only downside is when the only elevator in the building does out. Then I have to push the Bike up 3 flights of stairs.

Because the destinations of my commutes vary a lot from ride to ride, so do my methods for securing my bike. In the past, I've attached it to racks, lamposts, benches, handrails and--when I either have no choice or it seems safe--even to nothing at all.

Sorry about this mornings junk. I had just returned from having my dental work done and was kind of on another planet.

Here is the link to the warehouse and my bike, desk and sleeping chair.

The office building at Corporate Woods was kind enough to install a small bike rack out back by the loading dock. I was happy to park my 1977 Yama 10-speed there -- and then I got my baby last July. No way I was parking it out back, unattended.

"Don't ask, don't tell" kind of sums up my parking now. I carry the bike into the building, up one flight of stairs and into my office. The bike is light so it never hits the ground until I set it under my window -- that way, I figure, no one can really complain.

I generally bring the bike in the office with me. On rain days I'll park it in the covered, secure bike parking facility we have at my office -- electronic badge access required to get into the bike garage.

There is a set of bike racks in the parking garage at work, but since I have my own office, I prefer to bring mine indoors where I can see it.

I am able to park in a room adjoining my classroom in Kansas City. I carry my bike up to the second floor and roll it into my room.

I talked to someone today who told me that at her workplace in Overland Park she is forbidden to bring her bike into the building. Does this happen much?

We have a few options at work -- an outside bike rack that will fit about 10 bikes, a secure caged area in the parkade that will hold about 70 bikes (costs $75/year) and several open-area bike racks in the parkade that will hold probably close to 200 bikes (cost $35 / year).

We have a locked and alarmed store room next to the elevators in my building. I have a key and the code - pretty cool except when I'm the last one to leave, more ofter than not I set the alarm off :) If I'm feeling lazy, like today, I just park in my office.
