Run off the road this morning - I broke my face!

Photo: Yes, I realize I look a little dee duh dee in the picture. Stuff is swollen and I'm not feeling too great.

I was riding my bike to the bus stop as usual this morning, when a GMC pickup changed lanes into me and forced me off the road and into the curb. I lost control and flew off my bike, landing on my face.

Carnage:

  • Two facial fractures, one causing massive bleeding in my sinuses

  • big ol' scrape and goose egg on my chin

  • 2 chipped teeth

  • 2 broken-off teeth (stumps)

  • goose egg right above my right eye (helmet slipped upwards a bit)

  • No concussion, and the bike is just fine. I was RIGHT AT the bus stop when this happened. I didn't get the plate numbers and only one person stopped and asked if I needed an ambulance. I rode back home and had the wife take me to the E.R. since she was home.

I'm probably gonna be off the bike for a while.

Your talking about it. That's a good sign.

Take care of yourself. We'll hold down the fort.

You like like you just finished a session on the tv show "Cops".

Dude, that sucks! I know you'll get better, but until then I hope it's not too much pain and hassle. And, I swear it wasn't me in my GMC that caused it...

Well, at least you're not any more ugly then before the accident.. Just teasing! I pray for you speedy recovery and a return to the saddle.
