Commute-a-versary

Intending to get into bike commuting, I bought my cheapo mountain bike on Sept. 19, 2006 and rode it to the bus the next morning -- three years ago today. That bike didn't last long (only about 6 weeks before I destroyed the rear axle) but it kicked off what would become a completely different way I view transportation. I'm waiting for some scripts to run for work (I'm telecommuting tonight this morning) so I'll keep it short and post some more photos later this week.

Bike commuting kicked off in May of 2006 for me. I started out on a cheap comfort bike and also busted its rear axle, but I think it was about 6 months after I bought it.

Now I commute on either my Surly Long Haul Trucker or my Raleigh One Way--the latter almost exclusively in the winter.

btw, I stumbled on to your blog a few weeks ago on Google and have it in my RSS reader.

I started in N.W. GA, some were during the spring/summer of 05, on a beach cruiser that my neighbor gave me...
Last time I was in GA. I saw a couple of travelers that were sharing one bike and gave it to them. The next morning as I was leaving to head back to MN I saw the bike with a package in the front basket…. Priceless!
