Well, it's officially raining on the first day I get to actually use my new bike. What a bummer.
This bike is a world apart from anything else I've owned. I'll have to get used to both the shifters and the radically different gearing, but other than that, this bike is nothing short of amazing. 20 miles per hour comes effortlessly on the second chainring. I can't wait to put her through the paces once the weather gets a little nicer. Something tells me that my lard speed record of 44 MPH is about to be shattered.

YOU! You got the new bike. New bike = rain. It never fails. ;^)
Congrats!
BTW, when I was on a weeklong business trip in NC, I rented a Trek1200 instead of a car. It worked out fine, because come dinner time we carpooled.
Nice rack! And bike, too. ;)
We've got the same taste in bikes. The Trek 1200 is what I've been riding the past 2 years.
I think you'll be pleased. I'm really enjoying mine.
Sweet!! Nice to see you've joined the Trek 1xxx fraternity!! I don't think I could do the pannier rack with my 1500 because it doesn't have any rear connection points for racks. For BAK I am considering a seatpost rack holder (not for a pannier; that's for when I get a Breezer Liberty....hehe)
I'm a Specialized rider myself. But in the last bike event I rode in, I noticed that most of the riders that passed me were on Treks. Hmmm. . .
