That wasn't any faster...

I tried. I tried really hard to be faster, but all I got was a
lighter, nimbler bike. I made it in 53 minutes today, which is 2
minutes faster than Wednesday and at least 5 minutes slower than my
best time last week. The panniers stay. This is my first official
post from my phone. If it shows up wierd, I'm sorry.

  1. It often seems like no matter how much I hurry, I never save more than a couple of minutes. So for the most part, I don't bother pushing it. The small difference it makes usually isn't worth it.

One thing you might be able to try (not sure with your panniers) is just using one pannier. That's what I do, and it works fine. You'd think that having that weight unbalanced would be a problem, but it hasn't been for me.

  2. In the city, stoplights and traffic will have more of an impact on your commute time than your bike weight.
You see this on group rides all the time. We'll blast by a slower group at 26mph and then we'll be waiting at the next stop light while they roll right up at the same time.

  3. I would agree with apertome, i saw that at bak several times and the riders weren't leaning like a drunken sailor or anything....:)

BTW if you want some adventure Sat, the clocktower ride leaves @ 8 at 80th and SantaFe in OP. We're actually riding over to where DST is, so may be a chance to check out the routes around that neighborHood :)

The post doesn't look any weirder than normal so the phone should be ok :)
