This is going to be a HUGE case with plenty of media attention. I was picked into the panel for the first round. When the lawyers chose to eliminate jurors, I was excused. I am really craving a JavaJazz mocha from JCCC. I didn't get breakfast this morning.
At least it's a nice day to have the afternoon free. It's 52 degrees in Columbia right now.
ReplyDeleteI served on a 5 day jury a couple of years ago and found it to be educational. So many people don't want to do it, but I didn't mind.
Have a good afternoon.
I would love to be on a jury. I've only received that letter one time and it was canceled before I had to appear.
ReplyDeleteI must be "lucky." I had 2 jury duty notices and got picked both times! First one was attempted murder of a cop. 2 week trial, guilty. Next time I was an alternate. That's worse. You sit thru the whole thing, then they go deliberate and you sit alone for (in my case) a day and a half!
ReplyDeleteBring a book.
I do think everyone should serve though. It is educational, for sure.
Everybody wants justice and fairness as long as they don't have to be involved.
On a lighter note...
Can't wait to commute home by bike today. Great weather even at 7pm.
Great blog, Noah.
I served once - three day car accident civil trial. I found it fascinating.
ReplyDelete21 degrees and snow here in Minneapolis. YEE-HAW!!!
I served twice. Picked once for a domestic abuse case. The deliberations were very stressful, gave me a whopper of a headache.
ReplyDeleteI have not had the pleasure of serving on a jury. Being unemployed right now, jury duty would be almost perfect.
