Oontz.

It's no secret that I really like electronic music. Last night, The Crystal Method came to town to throw down a 5-hour-long DJ set at Lucky Strike Lanes. I had to go, and I dragged commuterDude with me. We carpooled.

Even though Lucky Strike Lanes is a bit of an upscale venue, it didn't stop the ravers from coming out to play.

And maybe cDude got into it a little, too...

It was a great show and of course they threw down some TCM originals mixed in with a lot of other stuff, like only they could.

Those pics are great. I love electronic trip hop and the downtempo lounge stuff. I'll have to checkout TCM.

I saw them twice in Orlando at the House of Blues...the first time, one of TCM guys fell off the stage and broke his arm. Good times!!!

I like electronic music too, although usually not as much the dancy stuff.

That said, I've been a fan of The Crystal Method since their first album. They've come out with some great stuff. I was disappointed in their newest album, but admittedly I haven't heard it enough for it to really settle in.

It must have been awesome to see them. I'm sorta surprised they did a DJ set and not a live PA. Oh, and 5 hours -- woah!

The newest TCM album I have is their soundtrack from the movie "London" - it was okay. I haven't picked up their newest, though. Vegas and Tweekend, though... Solid albums in my book.

Still, I'm not sure if I could handle 5 hours of nothing but TCM. Orbital? Probably. Their stuff is varied enough. TCM would get old after 90 minutes.

Keith and I showed up at about 9:30 and the house DJ was on the decks until a little after 10. I think we finally bailed at about 1:30 in the morning, but TCM was scheduled to spin until 3.

Hi,
Nice to find your blog. I've moved from Lawrence, KS to Midtown. I commute 365 in Lawrence on fixed for snow and -15 days, steel cross bike for the rest. My route in KC will be from Midtown (home) to JCCC for night classes. I start this August 16th. Any sage advice? I'm a little nervous to begin, but am ready to learn. My plan so far is to lock-it all up and good. As for a route, I was going to head out on a scooter for some road reconasense (sp?). Anyway, just a hello from a new reader.

What time does your class start? That will make all the difference in the world. If it starts between 5pm and 7pm, there are a few things I'd do differently than if it starts earlier or later than that. You can kind of get to the Indian Creek Trail via the Trolley Track Trail if you know the secret back way between the two of them. Then you can hop on Indian Creek Parkway and take 115th across to Quivira. That's the most off-road route. Unfortunately, all the on-road routes are going to have a few perilous stretches due to how Johnson County gets broken up into chunks by major highways such as US-69, I-35 and I-435
