My elf, apparently, is explosive.

Another sub-20°F morning has come and gone. We had some light flurries yesterday but the roads remained clear. I'll be taking it easy (read: riding the bus a lot and going to bed early) for the rest of the week. I am excited and anxious about the upcoming 200k.
Some accomplished cyclists will probably get a chuckle about my concern over the 200k that starts in sub-freezing temperatures. Others will likely wonder why I'd even consider it. Regardless your stance, it will easily be the most difficult thing I've ever tried to do on a bicycle. While I wonder if I am prepared enough to actually complete it, I am not worried about the event itself. I'll be with a good friend who's done a lot of these, and my wonderful wife has told me she'll be on standby if I need rescuing.
That reminds me... I haven't taken The Twelve out since I wrenched on it. I need to ride it around a bit tonight and tomorrow just to make sure everything is in order.

Hey, I think it's awesome you're going for the 200k in the cold. Put me in the category that understands why you're doing it, and feels a bit jealous. I need to do something similar, soon.

Good luck on the ride. Hope you can stay warm. I can manage on my 5-6 mile commutes but not sure about my feet on an extended ride.
ReplyDeleteEat early and often and drink, drink, drink! Good luck and pack a dry base layer. 200k is a very good day.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time! :) You guys will do fine.
ReplyDeleteDecorations look very festive. But man, that's some gawd-awful looking carpet. LOL
