Photo: quite literally millions of tiny condensation icicles graced the ceiling of the parking garage when I went down to hop on my bike and come home. I wish I could have gotten a better shot, as I've never quite seen anything like this before. Usually, the parking garage stays a little bit above freezing even when it gets down into the high-teens outside. The concrete roof is obviously above freezing, and condensation from car exhaust is making the ornate pattern you see here.I left my wallet at home today, so had to basically social-engineer my way into my bank account for lunch money. Ugh. What a day!
Don't think I've ever seen anything like that either. What was the outdoor temperature at that time?
ReplyDeleteIt was about 23 outside, and 28 in the parking garage according to my bike thermometer. NOAA weather logs from 3:00 agree with my thermometer's outdoor temp. I think it's the fact that it's remained well below freezing for so long that the concrete itself is finally below freezing as well.
ReplyDeleteLet me get this straight, you have a thermometer on your bike? Is that part of some large GPS-type device that also tracks elevation change? Sounds bulky to ride with.
ReplyDeleteIt's just a Trek Incite 11i. Maybe 2" x 1.5". Not much bigger than most other little cyclo-computers. I definitely don't use a bulky Garmin Edge or other GPS-enabled computer, especially this time of year. The thermometer is just a little display to the left of the speedometer.
